Uma equipe de quatro homens de comandos do Grupo do Deserto de Longo Alcance luta contra os nazistas no Norte da África. Armados com jipes equipados com metralhadoras calibre .50 - e atrevimento sem fim - eles travam uma guerra altamente irregular contra o Afrika Korps de Rommel. Seu inimigo mais comum é Hauptmann Dietrich, embora Dietrich e os Ratos juntem forças de vez em quando contra um inimigo comum.
