Baseado nos personagens criados por Arthur Conan Doyle: Dr. John Watson retorna do Afeganistão, e decide dividir alojamentos em Baker Street com Sherlock Holmes, um conhecido de um dos próprios amigos de Watson. Pouco tempo depois, Holmes traz Watson com ele quando ele resolve um caso de assassinato que confundiu o Inspetor Lestrade. Watson logo se torna amigo, assistente e cronista de Holmes, enquanto o detetive particular assume um caso desconcertante após o outro.
